KFC U.S. has introduced Go Buckets for on-the-go snackers. The Go Buckets include the choice of four nuggets, two wings, or one tender. Each order also comes with fries or wedges and starts at $3.49.

There are six combinations available for the Go Buckets, which are designed to fit in a standard cupholder. The snack-sized container has existed in international markets, including Australia and Canada, for years and made its U.S. debut last month at KFC’s Open House prototype in McKinney, Texas.

The domestic introduction comes as 87% of American consumers now report snacking outside of mealtimes, according to Datassential, and as nearly three out of four restaurant orders are taken to go, according to the National Restaurant Association.

“People want food to fit into their day, not the other way around,” Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Cash said in a statement. “Go Buckets open up a new snacking occasion for KFC, whether guests are grabbing one on the go or picking up a few to feed the group.”

Cash added that the brand wants to meet these changing habits and make it easier for customers to enjoy KFC.

The Go Buckets pay homage to the brand’s signature bucket, which was introduced in 1957. Founder Colonel Harland Sanders and Pete Harman, KFC’s first franchise owner, began filling paper buckets with 14 pieces of Kentucky Fried Chicken, five rolls, and a pint of gravy as a family meal to take home and share, according to the company.

The Go Bucket introduction fits into KFC’s broader U.S. comeback strategy, introduced last year following the hire of Catherine Tan-Gillespie as president. In addition to meeting higher demand for snacking and portability, the launch also fits with the chain’s sharpened focus on value offerings. In recent months, for instance, KFC has rolled out a 5 for $5 Tenders deal, $20 Build-a-Bucket, $10 Bucket of the Day, Popcorn Chicken Big Box, and more.
