Swees Moves Into Chilled Dairy Alternatives With Soy Yogurt Range

Share

Thai plant-based producer Swees has launched a soy-based yogurt range, extending the company beyond the cheese category it built its business on.

Swees Vegan Yogurt is made from organic soybeans grown in Chiang Mai and blended with coconut milk. The products contain live cultures and are positioned as lactose-free and free from preservatives.

The range launches in Original, Strawberry, and Greek Original. Original and Greek Original carry no-added-sugar claims, with the Greek variant positioned as a high-protein option. The strawberry variant contains real fruit pieces.

The yogurt is now stocked at retailers in Thailand. Swees has not named specific accounts or disclosed pricing or pack formats.

The launch adds to a portfolio that now spans Swees Cheese, CleanBean plant-based meat, and One Planet Pizza, with Swees.Co operating as the umbrella brand.

Swees was founded by Nicolas Frauenfelder, who moved to Thailand from Switzerland and started making plant-based cheese after finding it the hardest product to replace when he adopted a vegan diet. The company opened what it described as Thailand’s first dedicated vegan cheese factory in Chiang Mai, and has since expanded from blocks and slices into cream cheeses, dips, and ready-to-eat pizza.

Soy remains the dominant base for dairy alternatives across Southeast Asia, supported by local supply chains and long-standing consumer familiarity. Sourcing certified organic soybeans domestically from Chiang Mai is less common, with much of the region’s soy processing relying on imported beans. Swees uses the same local organic soy base across its cheese range.
