Starbucks is removing the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich from its US stores this month. The decision ends a six-year menu partnership with Impossible Foods and leaves the coffee chain without a plant-based meat item on its advertised US menu.
Bloomberg first reported the decision on November 3. Starbucks has not announced a replacement made with plant-based meat. “While we no longer offer the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich, our baristas would be happy to recommend an alternative sandwich,” the company said.
Starbucks added the sandwich to most of its US locations in June 2020, and it was the chain’s first nationally launched breakfast sandwich made with plant-based meat.
The sandwich combined an Impossible Sausage patty with egg and cheddar on ciabatta, so it was sold as a vegetarian option and was never vegan. Starbucks later tested fully vegan items in the US, including sous vide bites made with JUST Egg and Daring plant-based chicken at three Washington DC-area stores in 2022.

Starbucks is the latest US chain to stop selling Impossible Foods products. White Castle ended its seven-year partnership with the Redwood City, California-based company in late 2025 and replaced the Impossible Slider with a Dr. Praeger’s veggie patty.
Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said that the decision was the result of its routine menu evaluation: “As a standard course of business, we continually evaluate the items on our menu, using various criteria to ensure we are meeting the needs of our customers and our business.”
