Munich, Germany-based plant-based food producer Greenforce Future Food AG has acquired Berlin food-tech company Neggst, bringing the startup’s egg alternatives and patent portfolio into a group that is itself set to become part of LIVEKINDLY Collective.
“This acquisition gives Neggst’s technology the industrial foundation and global reach it deserves”
Greenforce signed an agreement to be acquired by LIVEKINDLY Collective on July 1, and that transaction remains subject to regulatory approval, with the two companies operating independently until it clears. Law firm Clifford Chance, which advised Green Generation Fund and Neggst’s other shareholders, said in July that the Neggst sale was carried out in connection with a financial investment in Greenforce.
Four formats in foodservice
Neggst was founded in 2021 and grew out of research by co-founder Dr. Verónica García-Arteaga at Germany’s Fraunhofer IVV. The company develops white, yolk and encapsulation components separately before combining them into finished products, using sweet potatoes, fava beans and peas as its ingredient base. Its current range of Patty, Poached, Bites and Scrambled is sold through foodservice in Germany, Spain and France, and the company says its European patent portfolio covers formulations including egg white, yolk, shell, poached egg and liquid mixed egg.

“I started this journey with a personal conviction as I was looking to remove animal products from my diet and removing chicken eggs was the hardest to leave out because of their versatility and I do love a nice savory breakfast. What started as a research project and personal interest became a company that regardless of the difficult situations in the plant-based sector, still remained and is thriving,” said García-Arteaga.
Neggst raised €5 million in a 2022 seed round led by Green Generation Fund and reports total funding of around €7 million to date, alongside a 2025 ZIM grant and a loan from Rentenbank. The company presented its poached and sunny-side-up formats in 2024 and made its first retail appearance at a Berlin vegan butcher shop the following year.
Neggst says the deal gives its egg platform access to the group’s manufacturing capacity and international distribution network once the LIVEKINDLY transaction completes.
“Our team spent years making our products better, our manufacturing partners believed in us before the volumes justified it, and our customers in Germany, Spain, and France proved the products worked in real kitchens. I am incredibly proud of what we built together. This acquisition gives Neggst’s technology the industrial foundation and global reach it deserves and confirms that solving the hardest problem in plant-based food was worth every iteration,” García-Arteaga continued.
