Kiki Milk Enters Protein Beverages With Whole-Seed Sacha Inchi Formula

US plant-based beverage brand Kiki Milk has launched Kiki Milk Protein, a USDA Organic drink that uses whole sacha inchi seeds as its main protein source. Each serving contains 10g of plant protein and 4g of fiber, which is double the 5g of protein in the brand’s core 32oz milks.

The first variety, Kiki Milk Protein Original, combines sacha inchi with oats and contains no gums, seed oils or natural flavors. It is sold online in 32oz six-packs at an MSRP of $49.99 through the brand’s website and Amazon.

Whole-seed protein formulation

Sacha inchi is an Amazonian seed that contains all nine essential amino acids. PlantBaby, the company behind Kiki Milk, says the seed is minimally processed and that using it whole keeps the fiber, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidant compounds that are usually stripped out when protein is isolated.

Co-founder Alex Abelin explained, “The problem with most protein beverages is the quality of the protein. When you create a protein isolate, the ingredient typically goes through significant processing to separate the protein from the rest of the seed. In that process, you can lose naturally occurring components like fiber, healthy fats, and other nutrients that are part of the whole food.

“We started with sacha inchi because it’s naturally rich in high-quality protein, and our goal was to preserve the seed as close to its original form as possible – delivering protein in a way that works with the whole-food nutrition of the plant.”

Protein-led line for a kids’ milk brand

PlantBaby launched Kiki Milk in 2021 as an organic plant-based milk developed for children, and the range now includes Original, Chocolate, Unsweetened and Mac Nut. The company placed its 32oz cartons in Sprouts Farmers Market stores nationwide and select Target locations in 2025, and says it has expanded distribution across national chains over the past year.

“Protein without fiber is an incomplete equation. Fiber helps slow digestion, support sustained fullness and energy, and creates a more balanced nutritional experience – so you’re not just getting protein, you’re getting protein in the context of a whole food. That’s what we mean by strength in every sip,” said co-founder Lauren Abelin.
