Erewhon Becomes Fourth US Grocer to Stock Beyond Steak Filet

Beyond Meat has placed its mycelium-based Beyond Steak Filet in Erewhon stores across Southern California, adding a premium organic grocer to a retail roster that until now consisted of conventional regional supermarket chains.

The whole-cut product made its brick-and-mortar debut at the end of June, when it launched at Wegmans and H-E-B, and reached Meijer in July. Before entering supermarkets, the filet was sold through Beyond Meat’s direct-to-consumer website from October 2025, where the company says it became the top-selling item, and appeared on the menu at BOA Steakhouse in 2025.

Erewhon is a family-owned, Certified B Corp and Certified Organic retailer operating 14 stores in the region. The chain is still expanding its footprint, and recently opened a store in Thousand Oaks, its first location outside Los Angeles County.

Each serving of the filet contains 28g of plant protein, 3g of fiber and 1g of saturated fat, with avocado oil used as the fat source. Wheat gluten and faba bean protein lead the ingredient list, followed by avocado oil and mycelium. The product carries Clean Label Project certification and Non-GMO Project verification, which Beyond Meat positions as a fit for Erewhon’s ingredient requirements.

Founder and CEO Ethan Brown named the US retail debut of the steak filet as one of the quarter’s positive developments. “Launching Beyond Steak Filet at Erewhon brings this exciting offering to a community that values thoughtfully crafted nutrition and simple ingredients, through a retailer that has long been at the forefront of what’s next in wellness,” said Brown.
