Chili’s introduces Chicken Parm Big Crispy sandwich

Chili’s is adding to its Big Crispy chicken sandwich lineup again.
The casual-dining chain is introducing a Chicken Parm Big Crispy sandwich, made with Chili’s famous Fried Mozz mozzarella planks instead of just standard melted cheese.
The Brinker brand is celebrating the chicken parmesan sandwich’s Italian-American roots by introducing its new Big Crispy sandwich to stores in Florence, Kentucky; Rome, Georgia; and Venice, Florida, first on Oct. 13, a full week before the sandwich is available at Chili’s menus nationwide on Oct. 20.
“We’ve loved seeing how guests responded to the Big Crispy, and it got us thinking about how we could build on that with flavors we know they already love,” George Felix, Brinker International CMO and executive vice president, said in a statement. “You won’t find a chicken parm with a better cheese pull than this.”
This sandwich is topped with Chili’s crispy fried chicken and fried mozzarella planks layered with marinara sauce. It is served with fries, white cheddar mac and cheese, and sides of marinara and house-made ranch dressing.
This is Chili’s seventh variation of the Big Crispy Chicken sandwich, which the Brinker brand first released in April to directly compete with quick-service chicken sandwiches, including Popeyes. Varieties include the original sandwich, the Deluxe (topped with bacon and Swiss cheese), spicy, Nashville Hot, Honey Chipotle, and Buffalo. Since introducing the Big Crispy sandwich lineup, Chili’s said its chicken sandwich orders have increased by 175%.
The company is rounding out its marketing campaign for the new chicken sandwich by tapping “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi to film a tourism video in Florence, Kentucky, to promote the new chicken parm sandwich.
Starting Oct. 20, Chili’s customers outside of the “Italian” cities in Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida can order the sandwich off the Chili’s semi-secret menu — Chicken Parm Big Crispy won’t appear on menus, but customers in the know can ask for it by name.
Chili’s is also selling a Chicken Parm Big Crispy t-shirt for a limited time through its online merch shop.
