Dodgers Pitcher Alex Vesia is Habit’s latest chef in residency

Habit Burger & Grill’s latest chef in residency is Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia. His eight-week menu is inspired by one of baseball’s most iconic moments: the double play.
Available for a limited time, the lineup includes:

Double Play Char: A double-patty Charburger featuring two chargrilled beef patties layered with American and white American cheese, fresh avocado, tomato, shredded lettuce, BBQ Sauce, and signature Strikeout Sauce on a toasted brioche bun.

Double Play Salad: A protein-forward salad featuring two chargrilled chicken breasts over romaine and green leaf lettuce with hickory-smoked bacon, avocado, crispy onion tanglers, tomatoes, BBQ Sauce, Strikeout Sauce, and housemade ranch.

Double Chocolate Shake: A made-to-order chocolate shake blended with brownie pieces and topped with whipped cream and more brownie pieces.
Habit created a new proprietary Strikeout Sauce for the menu, which features a tangy flavor and a kick from roasted jalapeño, garlic and chili peppers.
Vesia’s menu marks the second installment of the chain’s Habit & Co. platform, launched in July to allow residency chefs to bring their own creations and culinary points of view to the chain. His eight-week menu follows celebrity Chef Jet Tila’s Korean Street Menu.
When the program launched, Director of Brand Marketing Jack Lettenmair said the company “isn’t just putting someone’s name on a menu item,” but rather “inviting top-tier culturally relevant collaborators into our kitchen and giving them room to create.”
“Baseball fans love a great double play, so Alex asked us, why not bring that same idea to the menu?” Lettenmair said in a statement. “Every item doubles down on something delicious, whether it’s beef, chicken or chocolate.”
The Double Play Menu is available at participating Habit locations nationwide beginning Sept. 16 for a limited time.
The rotating residency series will continue with another featured resident to be announced in the coming months.
