Tuesday is National Coffee Day, and restaurants are more ready than ever to celebrate with new products and freebies.
According to Technomic, hot and cold coffee drinks alike are among the most popular prepared beverages consumers get away from home, with 34% of consumers ordering hot regular coffee, 32% ordering hot specialty coffee, and 25% ordering iced coffee at least once every 90 days. Those numbers lag only fruit juice and carbonated regular soft drinks — and regular hot coffee is right on par with plain still water.
Consumers are now ordering more iced coffees than they were in previous years, and popular flavors include vanilla, milk chocolate, hazelnut, and almond.
